Alley Food: Broken Arrow Lanes – Tulsa

For the past few years, Vince and his bowling buddies have been traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a big tournament, the Greater Tulsa Open, in which they participate in every December. In 2020, Aria and I got to go for the first time. It was such a fun trip, but I was a little sick. Last year in December, we traveled to the tournament and again – I was sick! Except that time it was really bad. It was just a sinus infection, but it knocked me out pretty bad. So this year, I made it a point to do everything I could to not be sick! And all was awesome!

The tournament starts off at Broken Arrow Lanes bright & early on Saturday and we’re there until about one-ish in the afternoon. Aria and I decided to check out some of the snack options. I went for some deep-fried goodness and tried the funnel cake fries. These fries had all the awesomeness of a county fair funnel cake, but so much easier to eat!

Aria ordered the chocolate chip cookie. When the waitress brought it out, we were pleasantly surprised to see this cookie was huge! It was fresh-baked awesomeness and almost took over the whole plate. Aria let me try a piece and it really was fresh-baked and yummy. Our snacks cost us around $8. Sodas were also in the $3 range, and they were refillable.

A little closer to lunch time, I was getting hungry, but I knew the tournament was almost over. A quesadilla sounded like a nice non-heavy option to get me by. The quesadillas at Broken Arrow Lanes usually include grilled chicken, but since I wasn’t trying to make a whole meal out of this, instead of chicken I asked for extra cheese in my order. And they did not hold back! There was plenty of gooey, melty cheese blanketed in a buttery tortilla that was lightly grilled to perfection! My quesadilla was a little on the pricier side being $10, but keep in mind this usually includes chicken. Given the size of what I received, if I would’ve had the chicken in it, this would’ve been enough to be a whole meal!

Lots of cheesy goodness!
My yummy quesadilla and of course my usual Dos X to wash it down.

Broken Arrow Lanes also has a pretty awesome little arcade. So of course, Aria needed to get in on that action! A few of the games were down, but there were plenty of others to keep her entertained for a while.

Let me tell you about other goodies I look forward to in Tulsa! There’s this restaurant right in front of our hotel named Black Bear Diner. Now this is actually a huge chain, but we don’t have one in our neck of the woods, so I get pretty excited about it. They have some of the best breakfast options ever! Every time I go there, I like to try something different. Their waffles are amazing! They have really yummy omelets in different varieties. For kids, they also make the cutest bear cub pancakes that Aria likes a lot. Vince usually orders his go-to breakfast which consists of pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. Black Bear has something for everyone and pricing is definitely family friendly.

These cute Bear Cub Pancakes are Aria’s favorite.
Black Bear has this amazing oatmeal with all the fixins!

So our annual bowling trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma is always a great time with my little family. Aria and I get to cheer on Vince and his bowling buddies, and they’re always fun to hang out with. I love going on this trip because we get to support locally-owned family alleys and enjoy yummy eats!
