On my way to the breakroom to fill up my water cup, I passed by a coworker waiting for the elevator:
Me: Good morning! Him: Good morning! How are you doing today? Me: I'm doing good. How about you? Him: I'm doing fabulous, but not as fabulous as you. You've got the fabulous outfit. You're rockin' your work around here. Me: Awww, thanks! (I recently worked with him to launch a social media campaign and helped his team on updating brochures.)
Honestly, that was nice to hear. I’ve been that this job for only 6 months and it’s been the boost I needed in my life. My work and skills are seriously valued here. Last month I received a tiny recognition amongst my coworkers, and I was really not expecting it. I feel like I’m in a good place here.
I’m seriously working on being nicer to myself. When my 5AM alarm went off this morning, my sleepy self REALLY wanted to hit the snooze, but I didn’t. I told myself, “Okay, it’s Monday. Let’s go kick some ass!” And I got myself out of bed and into the shower. These are tiny things I keep telling myself throughout the day. I pass these tiny things onto Aria as we walk up the sidewalk to school every day. I want her to be hyped up to take on the day too!
At some point it all pays off, right? I see it all as being on the yellow brick road to refinding Jessica Alexander fabulousness!
Good day, ya’ll!
