The Hard Truths

My poor baby.

Miss Aria has been struggling a bit these past few weeks. She’s been learning the hard truths about humans.

She’s had to deal with friends not being very friendly. She’s learned the hard truth that she may be loyal, but that loyalty might not always be reciprocated. She wouldn’t intentionally hurt anyone, but she’s learning that not everyone is going to do the same. She’s learning that some people are selfish and will betray her.

She’s having to learn that just because she’s good to people, they aren’t always going to be good to her. She’s learning the pain and frustration that comes from being wronged. Worst of all, she’s learning we don’t always get the apologies we’re owed.

It breaks my heart for her to cry about having to learn the ugly sides of humanity. She tries so hard to love everyone and make sure everyone feels included. Then, I have to explain to her that people won’t do the same for others.

Humans will human.

Aria has the best little heart and the world is going to do everything to destroy her. She’s having to learn to stand up for herself. My hope is that she doesn’t lose her kindness. There’s already too many sucky people.

I always encourage her to keep putting out all that kindness and all that love out into the world because what we put out there is what comes back to us.

I wish I could really believe that.
